The right dream at the wrong time- will kill you

Now that the tittle shook you enough let me break it down. I want to talk about how the wrong timing of dreams will either lead you to not achieve them or achieve them and still be miserable.

Often at times we think if we achieve our dreams then all will be well. If we can just be famous, if we can just be wealthy or if we can get married then will be happy. Let me ask you something, haven’t you heard of a wealthy and famous person commit suicide? Haven’t you? Then what makes you think you are immune to what drove them there?

I want to analyze a few things that if are not changed can kill your dreams or you:

  1. You
  2. The space you want to move into

There is a story in the Bible about King David desiring a woman who was married to another man because he desired the woman he had to kill her husband and he did so by promoting him to the front of the army ( think about it). Can you tell why this worked? David knew this man was not ready, he was not properly trained to fight and be in the same rank with the commanding officers of the army to take the new position, so it would kill him and the poor man didn’t see it coming.

Your lack of training can expose you to things you didn’t know existed, your impressionability can cause you to do things , develop addictions and hang with the wrong crowd. your lack of discipline wont disappear once you are famous it will be highlighted with no one wanting to work with you and it will be front page news. Your insecurities will reflect in the relationships you have and guess what it will be front page news.

Fame and riches don’t fix you instead they are a magnifying glass into who you really are with thousands of people constantly critiquing what you do and ready to cancel you with one mistake. Can your character withstand that?

Secondly, the space you want to enter in may not be fertile ground to receive your talent. Our current Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi is a beautiful brown skin and natural hair queen but if she had entered the competition ten years ago do you think she would have won? Do you think the pageant world was ready for hair that wasn’t straight or wavy but 4c and a women who spoke about women in leadership?

Nine times out of ten it is our character that needs to be evaluated more than our environment. However all of this was to say – Trust the process
