Algorithms of life (Part 2)

The blueprint

The official definition of a blueprint is ”A design plan or other technical drawing”. In the previous post I spoke of ordered steps, choosing the right algorithm and most importantly alignment with the dream or goal in vision.

I must remind you of what it means to have a vision; Remember you are the only person who sees or knows exactly what you want to execute. You have seen the goal, you know what the end product is and now you don’t want to work against the algorithm now what? Now comes what I like to call ”the solid blueprint tendency” (Before you freak out it happens to all of us including me).

The solid blueprint tendency is the tendency to plan and set in steel what you plan, have it in black and white and use it as a guild for a goal you know little of. Lets get a little deeper – We’ve all planned something, planned a trip, planned an event and even made plans for our goals. Don’t get me wrong planning is vital ( say it with me now: if you fail to plan, you plan to fail) but when we make plan to achieve something as intricate as life long visions dream and goals we make the following assumptions.

1. That everything we’ll be the same as it is in this very moment, (the same mindset whether good or bad, the same health, the same relationships,)

2. we overestimate and have a poor judgment on our abilities and we make decisions on who will be in a time we haven’t been.

Now imagine setting all that in stone even worse we allocate a time frame Now that’s a recipe for disappointment and feelings of failure.

Goals are set to have a time frame otherwise its just another wish. However allow the time frame to instead of saying ”In five years I want to have two cars” (whether or not i have a drivers licence), to be- ”In five years time to be in a financial position where I am closer to buying two cars”. The difference statement is one word ”guide” The one statement is written in rock and should it not happen that you are in a position to buy two cars you in extreme disappointment even though you are on the right track. The other statement is a guide to track progress and proximity to the goal.

In this post my desire is to dive in deep into working well with the right algorithm for your goal but understand that first you have to allow your blueprint to be flexible. Often when we plan we leave no room for error or mistakes, no room for things to go wrong and tend to be in area of very little realism. Working with your algorithm means after you have aligned yourself and focused yourself, you then proceed to draw your blueprint in pencil so we can allow for improvement, better measurements and take into account risk factors. We learn a lot from our mistakes and immaturity ”One negative stroke is sixteen times more powerful than a positive stroke”

You may be surprised to find out what the final product may look like if you simply allow your blueprint to be written in pencil. Believe you me it will exceed your greatest expectation.
